A word from the Exalted Ruler: Lisa L. Newell
Being a fairly new member to the Augusta Elks, I was drawn to the many events for Elks Members and guests, along with the various projects that the Augusta Elks supports like the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, local non-profit organizations that impact our community and our neighbors to name a few. I came in as a stranger, not knowing many Elk members, but left as a friend who was welcomed to return and attend the various events and committees.
The Elks Members I have met from near and far have countless stories of wonderful things they have accomplished. I am always amazed to hear the stories I hear from our own members at the Augusta Elks. Whether it is visiting our Veterans at the VA or the Veterans Home, raising money for an individual who has suffered from a serious health event, or educating our children on drug awareness or bike safety, these truly represent our motto Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the wonderful groups of individuals who spearhead monthly breakfasts, Birthday Bashes each month, monthly Friday night dinners, pool tournaments, cribbage tournaments, and countless other events. These are the superheroes who continue to schedule, plan, coordinate and execute the events that many of us enjoy.
If you are not a member, please consider attending an event or reaching out to one of our officers to provide you information about what is happening at the Augusta Elks Lodge. My motto this year is TEAM – Together Elks Accomplish Much! Come become part of our TEAM.
